Brazil’s National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA) decision conforms with the BR do Mar cabotage stimulus program launched by the government last January
As the federal port health authority, on 13 May 2022, ANVISA issued a Circular Letter informing the port and navigation sectors that, as established in the Law that instituted the BR do Mar stimulus program, vessels operating in cabotage, port support, maritime support and inland waterways are exempt from presenting a Free Pratique Certificate (Certificado de Livre Pratica – CLP) when calling at national ports.
However, it should be noted that all foreign and Brazilian flagged vessels must strictly comply with the relevant port health regulations regardless of the need for the CLP.
