VIII National Congress on Maritime, Port and Customs Law held in Brasilia

The Federal District Section of the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB) organised the VIII National Congress on Maritime, Port and Customs Law which was held on 3 and 4 October 2019 in the auditorium of the Superior Court of Justice (STJ) in Brasilia. STJ is Brazil’s highest appeal court for non-constitutional issues on federal legislation.

The event brought together several authorities, including former STJ minister Eliana Calmon, vice-admiral Wilson Pereira de Lima Filho, current president of the Maritime Tribunal, and Mr. Mario Povia, ANTAQ’s general director, among others. OAB member lawyers, law students, and stakeholders participated in the two-days function held in Brazil’s federal capital. The panels were filled with intense debates on topical issues affecting the maritime, port and customs sectors.

Our partner Ricardo Martins attended the event that takes place annually since 2012 in different locations in Brazil. The 2020 edition will be held in the southern state of Santa Catarina, at a place and time to be confirmed.
