In the face of significant progress in the COVID-19 vaccination campaign and a sharp reduction in the number of confirmed cases and deaths, Brazil’s National Health Surveillance Agency – ANVISA updated the applicable regulations, despite new variants emerging
Effective from 22 May 2022, changes adopted by the board of the federal health agency will ease some of the sanitary regulations enforced in domestic airports and commercial flights at the outset of the pandemic.
Changes
- Resumption of in-flight food service
- Permission to remove the mask when eating on board
- Return of maximum passenger capacity on in-airport shuttle services
- Removal of the restriction to carry out cleaning and disinfection only with the aircraft empty
What did not change
- Physical distancing between passengers whenever possible
- Use of face masks
- Disembarkation by seat rows
- Audible health warnings in airports and aircrafts
It remains prohibited the use of Bandanas, scarves and face shields without masks underneath, as well as acrylic or transparent plastic masks and masks with an expiration valve, even those for professional use.
