Draft reduction at Canal do Espadarte

Following reports of draft reductions made by pilots in the region and in the absence of updated bathymetric information, with effect from 30 January 2018, The Port Captaincy of the Eastern Amazon reduced the draft limitation at Espadarte channel, on the right margin of Pará River, to 11.50 m between the stretch from Ponta do Taipu and Ponta do Carmo (Canal do Taipu). In a further review earlier this month, the maritime authority decided to maintain the 11.50 m draft limitation for 120 days from 6 November 2018.

Espadarte is one of the maritime access to the ports of Belém, Vila do Conde and other ports in the Amazon region.
